About Yosegi inlay works:
It is said that Yosegi inlay, tipical of Hakone on Ashi lake, were the creations of Nihei Ishikawa, during the last period of the Edo age (1603-1868). Hakone inlay, bringing out limitless subtlety of the grain and colouring, makes use of one of the most sophisticated tecniques in woodworking, handed down from one generation to another, making it an art that expresses beautiful geometric motifs. Woodwork found in objects such as boxes and drawersare made usingthe same filing process using a particular plate to form trays and bowls showing peculiar patterns
