Author’s inspiration: "I made the first version of this secret puzzle box when I was in my senior year of high school. The first version had no cuts at 45 degrees and the box would have a lid unlike today’s mechanism. The box was a birthday gift for a dear friend. That’s why I chose this design. I wanted to make a casket without any outside piece that could move, because most boxes have sliding pieces or at least something to interact with on the outside of the box."
