CHALLENGE: the main challenge is to remove the gold anodised metal rod inside the box.

When you start the puzzle you can see into the hole in the bottom of the box that the gold anodised metal rod has a sad face on the end. You'll have done the puzzle when you've removed the rod and put it back so that you can look into the bottom of the box and see a smiley face on the rod. An elegant solution. This means that no element of luck is necessary to solve the puzzle. It can be solved at will with distinct and definite moves.
