CHALLENGE: Free the 1 euro coin hidden in the chest

The game, as the name suggests, is as eternal as the constant rotation of the gears: releasing the coin could take your entire life (words of the creator Jean-Claude Constantin!)

As Constantin tells us, this object, INFINITY, is not a puzzle, it is a philisophical piece of furniture

The ultimate goal is definitely to free the 1 euro coin, hidden on the back, but this can only be done by turning the gears

There are 20 gears and they work by rotating from the smallest to the largest, in 8 steps. This gear ratio causes you to lose the speed of the initial rotation that you make with your finger on the outer gear so many times that it seems that the rear gears do not rotate at all. They actually rotate, but the gear ratio is such that 10 revolutions of the large front gear converts to approximately 0.00005 revolutions of the rear gear with the coin. So imagine how long and at what speed you have to turn the mechanism .... Maybe for years and years ...

In fact, Constantin calls this object a "philosophical game", proposing it as an instrument of reflection on our life

He gives an example: if a man smokes cigarettes every day, he does not see any damage in the day, but at the end of his life he may notice some damage to his health. Ditto any other vice: done for a while no effect is noticed, but if repeated for many years, the effect will show itself

Hence the Infinity philosophy: turning the front gears for 8 consecutive hours in one day, the rear gear with the coin will move about 0.1 mm. But by turning for a few months or years, the coin will surely come out and the result will be noticed!
